This is the Goldtown of South Park as it was between 1860-1889. At 10,000ft living here was no picnic. Settlers lined the walls of dwellings with newspapers for insulation purposes. While I can not imagine that this made things much warmer, it does make for interesting reading!
Most of these images are just to provide a feel for what it was like to live in those times. I have enhanced a few, and most have a de-saturated look. Many of the indoor shots are done through plexigalss which is not the easiest stuff to shoot through. I also believe that there was more junk, waste, trash, and smell then there is today. Life in this time was not as glamorous as this quaint setting portraits. However we do get a glimpse of pioneer life with a real town and many of the furnishings and tools they used.
Note: A couple images are from Cripple Creek
Enjoy! Ron
